RML Overview including funding opportunities, preparing a successful application LIMITED
Friday April 18, 2025 8:30am - 9:30am EDT
This session will introduce participants to the programs, services, and funding opportunities available through the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) Region 2, headquartered at the Medical University of South Carolina Libraries. As the Regional Medical Library (RML) for Region 2, MUSC serves members across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the mission of the NNLM to advance the progress of medicine and improve public health by promoting equal access to biomedical information for health professionals and empowering individuals to make informed health decisions.

The session will also provide practical guidance on how to prepare a strong application for NNLM funding. These awards support projects that increase access to reliable health information, engage communities in research and data, and enhance professional development while promoting the use of National Library of Medicine (NLM) resources.
Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the national NNLM structure—including the role of Regional Medical Libraries, National Offices, and National Centers—and how to take advantage of opportunities that support community outreach, education, and health information equity across Region 2.
